Remote Head Keys
A remote head key, is a transponder key with the keyless buttons attached to the base of the key. Many older immobilizer equipped vehicles used them.

Smart Fobs
Also called smart keys, proximity keys, Prox fobs, etc. These fobs are primarily used on push-to-start vehicles. They have several functions. A metal emergency key is included to operate the door, when the car or fob batteries die. The vehicle has various sensors to detect and verify the encrypted chip information, when it’s within a few feet from the vehicle. This allows the doors to be opened and car to be operated, without touching the key.

Entrance Locks
Typically, this refers to any lock on an exterior door, including the door from the garage to the house. Entrance Function, refers to a keyed lock, that can be set to locked or unlocked. We stock a variety of both.
Bathroom Locks
The most common lock for a residential home, is called a privacy lock. It uses a spring-loaded latch and does not require a typical key. Instead, a small slotted screwdriver or pin, can be used to unlock it.
Hall and Closet Locks
These are referred to as passage locks. They have either a knob or lever, but they cannot be “locked.” They simply serve to keep the door closed and offer a simple means to open the door at will.
Deadbolt Locks
These two most common types of deadbolts are the single and double sided ones. Single
Sided deadbolts have a thumb-turn on the inside and accept a key from the outside. The double sided deadbolts require a key to operate the lock from either side. For residential applications, we only sell and install the single sided deadbolts. This is for Life Safety Purposes.
Lever Locks
A lever lock uses a horizontal lever to push down or pull up on. These are more convenient than knobs, especially for people with arthritis. But they can poses issues with the ease of egress, with children and pets.
Handle Locks
Commonly called “Pitcher Handles,” these locks have a long spout and use a thumb-press to release the latch.
Knobs
A knob lock is any lock that uses a knob for the handle. These are almost always active components, requiring a trusting motion of the knob, to release the latch.

We provide door drilling. If you have a door with only one lock, but would like a second, we can drill and prep the door. For standard cylindrical
Locksets, this is a 2 1/8” bore on the face of the door. A 7/8” - 1” hole in the side of the door and the inside of the framing. And chiseling to recess the latch or bolt, as well as their corresponding plates.

If you’re wanting a second lock stalled on an exterior door, office, or storeroom, we can drill and prep the door, before installing a new lock.
Correct door alignment
If your lock isn’t aligned correctly, it can fail to secure, break keys, or prevent opening. With many electronic locks, it can over-clock the gears and even break the lock. We can correct door and lock alignment issues.
Single Sided Deadbolt Locks
Thumb-turn on the inside and keyed cylinder on the outside.
Double Sided Deadbolt Locks
Key is needed to operate lock from either side. These are the most common for commercial applications. This prevents non-authorized persons from changing the state of your lock.
Commercial Lever Locks
Heavy duty locks that allow egress with minimal effort, by pushing down on the lever.
Commercial Knob Locks
Not as common and definitely not ADA Compliant. These locks require twisting the wrist to operate and can have heavy spring tension.
Entrance Locks
We stock a variety of locks for business entrances.
Entrance function locks, refer to a specific characteristic. These locks can typically be set to three functions: storeroom, locked, unlocked.
Office Locks
These are often Entrances function locks.
Storeroom Locks
The storeroom function requires a key to operate from the outside at all times. The inside handle or knob is always unlocked. When the correct key is inserted and rotated, the latch is retracted. The knob or lever does not move the latch. These come in both clutched and non-clutched versions.
Bathroom Locks
Most businesses will be using keyed locks for public restrooms. Employee bathrooms may have the privacy locks instead. Additional options exist for these applications.
Passage Locks
A passage lock does not actually lock; it just latches. The for stays shut, but anyone can open it.
Storefront Locks
These use the mortised locks. A rectangular box (the lock), sits in a channel inside the door. It is actuated by the keyed cylinder, or thumb-turn. We stock the hook bolts, swing bolts, and dead-latches. Also the push/pull paddles, handles, and other exit devices.
Mortise Cylinders
The mortise cylinder threads into a mortised lock and is held in place by a screw in the side of the cylinder. These can be key operated, thumb-turn, paddle operated, or just have a blank cover plate.
Mortise Locks
A mortised lock fits into a channel, milled into the door. Storefront doors use a narrow mortise lock, while solid doors use a much large lock box.
Cylindrical Locks
Cylindrical locks use the well-known circular holes in the door. Typically 2 1/8” diameter for the large hole and 7/8” -1” for the latch or hot hole. These locks have the latch or bolt inserted through the side of the door and everything else attached to the front and back sides. You have the most cost effective options and variety with standard cylindrical locks.
Occupancy Indicator Locks
Occupancy indicators are most commonly found on bathrooms, changing rooms, and hotel rooms. Some have the indicator on the deadbolt, while others appear on the lever.
