Largely this depends on the exact vehicle and what type of key it uses. First, we come to your location and obtain the key code. This is typically done by either removing a lock and getting the code, or picking and decoding the lock without disassembly. From there we code cut the key on a laser key cutter. For many pre 2000 vehicles, the physical cut key will operate everything, without having to be programmed. For most vehicles since 2000, there is a chip inside the key or fob that we need to program into the vehicle’s computer before you can drive or even start the car.

For smart fobs, we usually program the fob first and then cut the emergency door key.

For remote head keys, we program the remote functions while we’re programming the transponder key, or immediately following.
