Orions Key Fob Programming in Vancouver WA

We provide several different types of key fobs for Vancouver WA customers:
Keyless entry remotes
these fobs are only for keyless functions: lock, unlock, panic, trunk/hatch, side doors, remote start, etc. (they’re still fobs, but more accurately Remotes)
Flip fobs
these fobs have a key blade that flips out when you press a button. The fob portion has the same types of buttons that keyless entry remotes have.
Remote Head Keys
pretty much identical to the flip fobs, except that the key blade is fixed/stationary and doesn’t “flip”. Again, the same types of keyless entry buttons, but it’s rare to see remote start on these.
Fobik/Fobix Keys
these fobs were only used by a few manufacturers (the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram family and Mercedes). They have a plastic nib at the end where the key blade usually goes and an emergency door key in the rear of the fob. The keyless entry buttons are similar to the other fob types.
Smart Fobs or Proximity Fobs
Prox fobs have several functions all wrapped into one. They usually allow you to both unlock the doors and start the vehicle without touching the fob, so long as it’s within close enough range. There are usually sensors on the driver and front passenger doors, and trunk/hatch, as well as near the push to start button. These sensors detect the signals sent by the fob and grant access to open doors and start the car whenever the correct signals are read strongly enough. They also have the keyless entry buttons and emergency door keys.
Tips for push to start vehicles:
- You should have an emergency door key inside your smart fob. This is to be used unlock the drivers door if the car battery or fob battery are dead.
- Using the emergency key – some cars will have the drivers lock cylinder uncovered, while others have a cap that must first be removed. If you’ve never had to use it, you might not know it exists. Look at the bottom of the cap, to the right of the handle. There should be a small slot in the bottom there. This is where you would slide your emergency key through to remove the cap. You might have to wiggle it a little a release it. Careful putting the cap back on though, as there are small tabs that can break if it’s not done right.
- If the fob battery is dead, you should still be able to start your car. The emergency key opens the door, and then the fob can be pressed into the start button. Make sure you’re using the edge of the fob that’s opposite your keyring. Some vehicles have slightly different procedures for starting it. Some Fords require you put the fob on its side edge to the right side of the ignition. Some other vehicles want it in the programming slot (which could be in the cup holder, glove box, center console, or another area, depending on the vehicle). The point here is that you should be able to start your car, if only the fob battery is dead.
