Alignment Issues

Many problems arise from bolts and latches not being properly aligned. Sometimes the weatherstripping is the cause, sometimes it’s the hinges, sometimes the door, and sometimes it’s either the house settling, or the holes not being drilled or prepped correctly. We can restore your alignment and have your locks operating smoothly again! Alignment is especially crucial for the operation of electronic locks. The electronic deadbolts require smooth function to throw and retract that inch lock bolt. These locks often operate with 4x AA batteries and have relatively weak motors. They can get jammed, overclock, or break because of misalignment.

Some electronic deadbolts, like Schlage’s BE365 electronic deadbolt, are better with alignment problems, because they only engage the solenoid, while you turn the bolt by hand. Most doors with alignment issues are easier to operate if you push on the door when you’re inside, before locking or unlocking it (assuming the hinges are in the inside, as exterior doors are), and pull the handle a little when you’re outside before locking or unlocking the door.

Rekey

Rather than replacing a functional lock, the combination can be changed. This is a more cost-effective way to regaining access to the door and regaining key control. Typically, residential locks should be keyed alike. This allows you to use a single key to operate all the locks. Bedroom locks would be the common exception to this. But when you have dog sitters, caretakers, or Airbnb situations, you may consider keying the lower lock (knob, lever, or handle) to a different combination than the deadbolt. This gives you sole control over the deadbolt, which is the primary security of the door (if one is present).
The most common reasons you would rekey a lock would be for:

  • Lost or stolen keys
  • Staff turnover (caretaker, maid, nanny)
  • Evictions
  • Estates
  • Binding keys (worn keys and lock pins)
  • New property lease or purchases

Add Vehicle Key
This option allows you to add additional vehicle transponder keys or smart keys. You must currently have at least one key that will start and run the vehicle. So long as the security of vehicle has not been compromised, adding additional keys is typically simpler and quicker.

All Keys Lost
Many vehicles require two working keys to perform All Keys Lost. This process can take a little longer and is typically more expensive that just adding a second or third key.
If you’ve lost one or all of your vehicle keys, or if you’ve purchased a used vehicle and want to ensure that previously programmed keys will not operate your vehicle, this option would be ideal.
Any physical key that used to operate the doors, trunk, glove box, and physical aspect of the ignition will still work those areas, but the vehicle will not start with those keys.
